Historical Romance Group Blog Tour! Paula Quinn, Laurel McKee & Sue-Ellenn Welfonder

Welcome to this special tour celebrating three new historical romances: Paula Quinn's Tamed by a Highlander, Laurel McKee's Lady of Seduction, and Sue-Ellen Welfonder's Temptation of a Highland Scoundrel.

While the 90+ weather means it's too hot to read outside, this is a good time to indulge in the comfort of your air conditioned home.

Tamed by a Highlander (Children Of The Mist, #3)
Paula Quinn's Tamed by a Highlander
ISBN-10: 0446552364 - Mass Market Paperback $7.99
Publisher: Forever; 1 edition (July 1, 2011), 400 pages.

Paula Quinn's Tamed by a Highlander incorporates political intrigue in Stuart England in the romance.  Mairi MacGregor is deeply loyal to Scotland and her heritage.  When she visits the new and Roman Catholic King of England, she bumps into her childhood love, Connor Grant.  She calls on her anger and bitterness at his having abandoned her and Scotland.  She resents his loyalty to the English king and the Stuarts and she's not afraid to show her anger and displeasure, even if it means that she descends to rudeness.

Connor Grant is shocked to see Mairi at court. And when her father asks him to keep an eye on her, he isn't able to refuse, even if it means that he has to face the one woman that he's always loved.  Her anger, rudeness, and bitterness don't bother him - he's glad to be around her regardless.

Paula Quinn creates a romance out of a seemingly impossible situation.  The intervention of a kindhearted queen, the bravery and loyalty of Scottish warriors, and the power of longstanding love all make Tamed by a Highlander a fun, absorbing read.

Lady of Seduction (The Daughters of Erin, #3)

Laurel McKee's Lady of Seduction
ISBN-10: 0446544779 - Mass Market Paperback $7.99
Publisher: Forever; Original edition (June 1, 2011), 384 pages.

Lady of Seduction, Book Three of the Daughters of Erin series, by Laurel McKee revisits the widowed Lady Caroline Blacknall, a bluestocking and one of the famously independent and beautiful sisters has taken a dangerous sea voyage to find the reclusive Sir Grant Dunmore.

The two have a history from when Grant had wanted to marry Caro's sister Anna and had taken reckless, dangerous steps to get her attention. Grant's plan backfired through he tried to undo the damage, the incident left him permanently scarred.

But Caro isn't put off by the scars - physical and emotional - she sees something in Grant that he doesn't see in himself. Caro is still drawn to Grant and her brief retreat brings her adventure and love, however temporary.

Sir Grant Dunmore has long been haunted by his memories of Caroline Blacknall. When she washed up on his island, he fights to save her life, again and again. The love of a good woman has turned many a man around - and while Grant loves Caro, he feels that she deserves more than he can give her.

I discovered Laurel McKee with this Daughters of Erin series and fell in love with the characters. Her heroines, the Blacknall sisters are smart, strong, independent. The men who love them recognize their strengths even as others around them recognize that the sisters are ahead of their time. To be honest, their guts and intellect makes them seem almost cutting edge, even for our day.

I like that McKee sets the stories in an unusual location - Ireland during Rebellion of 1798 and the Rising of 1803. The final installment, Lady of Seduction, is a keeper.

Temptation of a Highland Scoundrel (Highland Warriors, #2)
Sue-Ellen Welfonder's Temptation of a Highland Scoundrel

ISBN-10: 0446561770 - Mass Market Paperback $7.99
Publisher: Forever; Original edition (July 26, 2011), 416 pages.

Sue-Ellen Welfonder's Temptation of a Highland Scoundrel is the second in her Highland Warrior series.  Set in the Glen of Many Legends in the highlands of Scotland, Sue-Ellen Welfonder introduces us to the MacDonalds, Camerons, and Mackintoshes, three warring clans who have been forced by their king to keep the peace.

Kendrew Mackintosh holds the largest portion of land with impenetrable mists and rock formations of dreagon stones that are sleepy dragons turned to stone.  Kendrew is wild, deeply connected and proud of his Nordic roots.  His wildness, independence and golden looks draw the attention of Lady Isobel Cameron.

On the night of Midsummer's Eve, Isobel Cameron sneaks out of her brother's holdings to Mackintosh land - to watch Kendrew Mackintosh dance naked on the dreagon stones.  Though she's high spirited, Isobel has lived a sheltered life. She certainly didn't expect the things to progress as quickly as they did.  Not that she regrets any part of her encounter with Kendrew.  Kendrew has been careful to avoid virgins and ladies, but he certainly wouldn't have "danced" with Isobel Cameron if he knew who she was when they first met.  But Kendrew hasn't been able to forget their first meeting.

Temptation of a Highland Scoundrel is hilarious, fun, and a satisfying romance.  Feisty maiden, stubborn and honorable highland laird, friendship, alliances and danger -- what more can you ask for?
