Celebrate Georgette Heyer's 110th Birthday!

My mother introduced me to Georgette Heyer years ago and would often stay up late rereading a favorite Georgette Heyer romance.   Heyer is one of her go-to authors for a relaxing escape.  After a particularly long work week, she'd often spend Friday evening curled up with The Grand Sophy or Arabella or another rediscovered classic. I've fallen in love with her novels as well because of the banter, the situational comedy, and the lovable and outspoken heroines.  Plus, I love being able to talk about the books with my mother.

Have you read any of Georgette Heyer's novels? Many fans of historical romance have and this is a wonderful chance to read more Georgette Heyer or to start, if you haven't already.

To celebrate, Georgette Heyer's birthday, Sourcebooks is offering a special 3 book prize pack with 1 historical fiction,  1 mystery, and 1 romance.  To enter the contest, just share your personal Georgette Heyer moment in a comment below. If you haven't read any Georgette Heyer, you can still enter - write about why you'd like to read one of her books.

Please include your email address in your comment so that I can let you know if you won!  The contest is limited to US and Canada only.  The contest ends this Wed on August 15.

If you can't wait for the contest -  Sourcebooks has reissued many of the novels, making them available as hard copies and as e-books.  To celebrate Heyer's birthday, the e-books are on sale for $2.99 until Aug. 20, 2012. 1. I first read one of her stories not realizing that it was written years ago but I did enjoy the story and the characters.

  3. I discovered Georgette Heyer through these great re-issues that Sourcebooks has been putting out recently. I read my first of her work last year, and I was hooked! Her style really reminds me of Jane Austen-- so classy. I haven't read any of her "modern" books yet, and I'm looking forward to it.

    Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

  4. I had heard of her before, but I was snobbish about the romance genre so I wasn't interested in reading her. It wasn't until I was in a reading funk, and a little more receptive to romances, especially those characterized as being similar to Jane Austen, that I finally picked up one of her books. I have also being doing my best to spread Heyer around like an evagelist!

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  6. When I was reading the classics an old friend mentioned that I should read the Georgette Heyer novels since they are memorable. They certainly are and the genres involved appealed to me. elliotbencan(at)hotmail(dot)com
