Manolito Four-Eyes: The 2nd Volume of the Great Encyclopedia of My Life by Elvira Lindo

The blurb:
Manolito Four-Eyes, the unforgettable ten-year-old from Spain, is back in his second book--which he calls "The 2nd Volume of the Great Encyclopedia of My Life."  Also back are Manolito's family and friends, including the Bozo (his favorite and only little brother), Big Ears (his best friend, even though he's a dog traitor), Ozzy (the biggest bully in the worldwide world), and his grandfather (Manolito's unconditional ally).

Review:
Manolito Four-Eyes books are wildly popular in Spain and have just been made available in English. This "2nd Volume in the Great Encyclopedia of My Life" is a fun and witty account of the life of the mischivious ten-year-old Manolito who lives in an apartment in Carbanchel, a section of Madrid with his young brother "Bozo", his maternal grandfather, and his parents.  His day is full of all sorts of small adventures, every detail of which he considers important and is recorded in this Great Encyclopedia.  We spend time with Manolito and his best friend Big Ears as they sneak candy from the corner store, play with the neighbor's dog, hang out with the bully/leader Ozzy at Hangman's Park and try to impress the beautiful Susanna.

Good humored, kind hearted and quick witted, always up for an adventure, Manolito Four-Eyes tells a good story and is easily the sort of kid that your parents would have warned you against and that you likely would have enjoyed hanging out with.  I look forward to sharing this series with my nine-year-old niece Sofia.
